Mateo House, Ibiza

Refurbishment of a one store family house with an inner courtyard, that is the characteristic typology of Sa Capelleta neighbourhood’s urban fabric. The aim of the proposal is to release the plan from the non-structural enclosure walls and demolish the constructions in the patio in order to reorganize the spaces in a stronger relation with the garden.

To give privacy to the house without modify the urban fabric the proposal planned to demolish the currently bedroom’s roof and create an access patio with the original beams, while building a new bedroom on the top of the central walls. Finally, that was ruled out for economic reasons and the proposal focused on defining an only opened space. The facilities are enclosed by a mobile wood wall to maintain the continuity of the space, only fragmented by the bearing walls.
